An accreditation to shout about: Cyber Essentials
It was announced on Friday that RockIT have successfully been awarded with certification of membership to the Cyber Essentials Scheme, a Government approved scheme to assess and award business that comply with the very best cyber protection. This is a fantastic achievement, and helps to demonstrate just how much extra protection measures we have here.
What’s it all about?
The Government is all too aware of the ongoing and heightened threat of cybercrime to UK businesses, and in order to try and conquer this issue they have created the Cyber Essentials, a set of clear criteria for businesses to adhere to and demonstrate compliance in, that when followed ensures maximum possible protection from cyber-attacks.
The Cyber Essentials Scheme is applicable to all organisations, of all sizes and in all sectors, and aims to ensure these businesses are as protected as possible, by concentrating on five key disciplines:
- Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
- Secure configuration
- Access control
- Malware protection
- Patch management
The main benefit that’s associated with the Cyber Essentials Scheme is the overall enhanced cyber protection that can be achieved once a business addresses all the criteria. In addition though, even the Government positions the scheme as a great selling point, as it goes without saying that when businesses can demonstrate they are accredited with the Cyber Essentials badge, they are also outlining their commitment to cyber security.
Over the coming days we are going to expand on all of the five key criteria of the scheme, and not only give you a few things you can change instantly, it should also give you your own reasons for achieving the Cyber Essentials status for your own business.
