How to get hired in the Best Place to Work in IT
We were shooketh to learn that WE … RockIT… have been chosen as 1 of 10 amazing companies to be in the running for the Best Place to Work in IT 2017, in the UK IT Industry Awards. This is an amazing achievement, as it is arguably the biggest IT awards in the UK, and would most certainly be one that everyone would want to win. We have an excitable energy that consumes our thoughts when it comes to planning events and the ‘fun stuff’ that keeps our staff happy, we are inclusive and aim to always have something for everyone to enjoy. In fact, one of our core values is ‘Happy people deliver great service’, we keep our team happy by giving the right training and opportunities for progression mixed with regular treats and incentives, and we are confident that we can, and do support everyone here with their career goals, and encourage them to reach the best of their ability.
Be an individual
We want to hear about the characteristics and values that make you; you. Tell us you’re a nerd! If you’re quirky, show it! Show us pictures of your hobbies, pets… we love it all! Express your personality and be proud to be the person that you are. Individual differences are something we embrace here and we always gravitate towards people that can demonstrate what an amazing ‘person fit’ they would be.
Knowledge is power? No. Your willingness to learn is power.
We are often looking to fill a wide variety of roles…
Being an IT company however, people assume that you need to be technical to be eligible for these. Yes in some roles Technical knowledge is essential, but why would we want to prevent the perfect candidate from taking on a role if they were a great fit but with no Technical understanding? With the right people, we can offer the best support and training, and teach everything we can about the technical side of the business. We love to share our knowledge with as many people as we can!
R.E.S.P.E.C.T find out what it means to me?
It doesn’t matter if you think you are talking to the cleaner or the CEO of a company, you should treat everyone with the same level of respect. From your initial telephone conversation to the person who lets you into the company to the hiring manager. You should be kind and courteous, respectful and polite. If you have to fake this, then I am sorry to say that this will not be the place for you. You are a reflection of the company’s image and values. As an individual who would be potentially speaking to clients, we will not settle for anything less than this as this could damage our reputation and ruin our culture.
